you see a 7!!! That's what we've been telling Braxton every night before bed. Braxton went through a phase of getting up at 3:00, 4:00, or 5:00 a.m. to get in bed with us. Of course he would come to my side of the bed and man, mommy sure was tired. My sweet friend, Julie, suggested this trick and it works! I thought I'd pass it along to all you mommies out there who may be experiencing the same thing.
Here's what we did: Steve put duct tape over the last two digits on the clock. When Braxton sees a 7 he can come to our room. Covering the last two numbers is crucial...if the clock said 5:07, then sure 'nough Braxton would've been in our room. It took about 3 nights of him coming in our room, me saying "Do you see a 7?", him saying, "No, it's a 4", and me walking him back to his bed saying "Wait until you see a 7." It worked like a charm!
Now if we can only get Nash to read the clock....

Great idea!
What happened to the Braxton who use to sleep until 10:00? Remember those days? :) Both of the girls are going through a stage of sleeping until 9:30 or so. I hope it continues for a very long time!! Also, Lily STILL has never gotten out of bed since she transitioned into the big one over year ago. Not ever to play in her room. It is the craziest thing. She just lays there until we come to get her. I don't think I will EVER tell her it is OK to get out! Maybe I need to have her call B. and give him a few pointers. :) Hope the clock continues to work! Love you!
That's great Kathryn! Can you start a book of tips for me?! :) 6 more weeks!!
oh my heavens! you know i have nothing to offer here! do you think the masking tape is necessary for a nine year old? something tells me he'd just change every clock in the house before waking me....
could us blog readers please get a more panoramic view of that room? i want to see the baseball...
YAY! I'm so glad it worked for B. Actually I have to give credit to my brilliant husband...covering the numbers was his idea. :) We STILL use it on our kids....now on Saturdays we say WAIT UNTIL THE 8! I know one of these days we'll have to drag them out of bed, but dang. They are such early risers.
I do this too with my boys. A lady at MOPS suggested it to us. Unfortunatly Luke figured out how to change the time on his clock so I'll put him down for a nap and tell him to get up at 3 and he'll change the time and make it a 3 in 10 minutes flat! Also, he takes the darn tape off. I heard Gorilla Tape is a bear to get off, that's my next job....
Great! I've tried to think of something like this for Jaker. Maybe we'll try. I love your new blog look!
